Yola Jean Lu has been doing stand up for almost 15 (!!!) years now. She *finally* is feeling ready to record her 1st ever, self produced stand up special this upcoming November. Her show will be a mix of some of her favorite material, as well as a bunch of new stuff. Beware: some of this new stuff she will be testing out for the first time at this show!
The show is ultimately a stand up show, interwoven with storytelling to help transition through the topics. It's a show that explores the intersection between comedy and vulnerability, where Yola explores really raw, dark topics. But does her best to make them funny!
This show is *not* trying to make fun or put down Asians. In fact, quite the opposite. It's a show hoping to humanize Asians in America, and show that we are allowed to exist beyond what people think of us.
Yola also wanted to call out that there will be cake. It will be free.

Yola Jean Lu is a comedian, actress and writer based out of Austin, Texas. She is one of the original co-founders of the all Asian American improv troupe, Y'all We Asian, and also one of the original founders of Disoriented Comedy, which was a mostly female stand up tour that gave a platform to other Asian American voices. Yola is also the 2022 winner of the Austin Chronicle's Best Actress award, and won Best Actress for her role in her short film, Patsy. She’s recently debuted her one woman show called “Help! Yola has produced (mostly) sold out comedy shows for over 10 years now - Brixton Comedy Hour, Oops All Headliners, Easy A, Y’all We Asian showcases, and was one of the hosts of ColdTowne’s popular weekly stand up show, Live at ColdTowne. She has toured different cities and colleges with her stand up, and has also had the honor of participating in the Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival in Seattle, and the Comedy Comedy Festival in Los Angeles.
